New format from Sony and SanDisk

In January of next year SanDisk and Sony plan to begin licensing of a new format of cards of memory - Memory Stick PRO-HG. Its main advantage should become three times increased speed of data transmission.
For achievement of the speed of data transmission declared in a characteristics up to 480 Mbps, clock frequency with 40MHz has been increased up to 60MHz, and to the consecutive 4-bit interface is added parallel 8-bit. At use of the last the minimal speed of data recording will make 120 Mbps. The minimal speed of record at use of the 4-bit interface – 40Mbps. Developers plan to finish volume of memory of a card up to 32 Gb.
As Memory Stick PRO-HG represents anything other as expanded format Memory Stick PRO, development is supported by all compatible with Memory Stick PRO devices, the truth and will function it as usual Memory Stick PRO, using the 4-bit consecutive interface. The devices supporting Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, will be accessible in 2007.
